1. The Inn at Windmill Farm

3829 FAIRVIEW RD., BAILEYS HARBOR

Located mid-peninsula, a short drive from either shore, this early 1900s farmhouse shares 10 quiet acres with a historic barn, orchard and the namesake windmill. The three guestrooms, named for Dutch painters, include private baths – and no televisions. Gourmet breakfasts receive high praise.

2. The Chanticleer Guest House

4072 CHERRY RD., STURGEON BAY

Popular for romantic getaways and only a half-mile north of Sturgeon Bay, the 1915 farmhouse and barn have been converted into eight finely appointed rooms and suites, all with double whirlpool tubs. The rustic 30-acre property is a taste of country, with hiking trails and gardens, as well as a sauna and heated pool.

3. Baileys Harbor Schoolhouse Inn

8091 GUY ST., BAILEYS HARBOR

This 1917 former school on the “quiet side” of the peninsula now contains six spacious rooms with kitchenettes and private entries. Perfect for the indie traveler, the inn is only a few minutes’ walk from the town’s assortment of great bars and eateries and the shores of Lake Michigan.
