Milwaukee Magazine‘s annual Chef Event is back for its sixth consecutive year! In partnership with the Bartolotta Restaurant Group, the event will feature nine of the best chefs in the area. It’s on April 17 at Downtown Kitchen (777 E. Wisconsin Ave.).
Katie Williams, associate publisher at Milwaukee Magazine, says this signature event offers the public a unique culinary experience for one night. “We do that by inviting who we would consider the best of the best chefs in our area to come in, cook at the event and prepare one of their signature dishes in a little bit smaller form for guests,” Williams says. “It’s really about showcasing the chef, and their food and cooking.”

The event brings together a community of food enthusiasts for one night in an accessible way to try Milwaukee’s best restaurants – all in one sitting. “If you want to try all their food, that’s great, but you would have to go to eight restaurants on eight different nights,” Williams says. “And that’s incredibly expensive. So that’s what makes this event unique.”
When the Chef Event first premiered, Milwaukee didn’t have a large food event scene. Now, there are plenty that have come and gone. Williams credits the personal touch of the event to it’s major success. “[The chefs] do a panel discussion where Carole, our editor and publisher, asks them each questions and makes it conversational, light-hearted and fun,” Williams says.
This year, Milwaukee Magazine is offering tables for purchase. There are two-, four- and six-top tables available. All table packages include bottles of wine.
