Milwaukee County’s Emergency Management Medical Director Ben Weston joined Milwaukee Magazine Editor and Publisher Carole Nicksin for a livestream lunch Thursday, and Weston provided a weekly update about the coronavirus in Milwaukee.

Weston said that Milwaukee County is continuing to increase its COVID-19 testing capacity. It now has 17 testing sites, which are available to everyone in the county.

“Anyone who’s symptomatic should come in, should get a COVID-19 test,” Weston said.

Weston said there has been a slight increase in cases in the past few days, but the spread has slowed somewhat. More statistics about coronavirus cases, deaths and hospital resources can be found on the Milwaukee County Dashboard

When Milwaukee begins to reopen, an increase in cases is inevitable, Weston said. It is essential to reopen gradually so hospitals aren’t overwhelmed.

In the meantime, we should maintain social distancing and wear masks in public to continue flattening the curve.
