This Milwaukee Chef Is Competing in ‘Beat Bobby Flay’

Our own Dan Jacobs from DanDan is taking on Bobby Flay.

Do you think you’d be able to beat Bobby Flay in a head-to-head cooking competition?

Well, we’re certainly hoping that our Milwaukee champion, Dan Jacobs, will come home with the ultimate bragging rights: I beat Bobby Flay

Chef Jacobs, the co-owner of DanDan restaurant in the Third Ward, will appear on Food Network’s “Beat Bobby Flay” this Aug. 16 at 9 p.m. Chef Tony Nguyen of Crustacean in Beverly Hills is Jacobs’ first competitor on his way to topple Flay’s reign.

The episode, named “You’re Masa-ing With Me!”, features masa, a corn dough, as the essential ingredient in the first round. 

The first round pits the two guest chefs against each other who both have to make a dish with the ingredient of the episode, in this instance, masa. The two judges then select the winner of this round to continue and compete against Flay. Flay and the first-round winner must cook the same dish, selected by the first-round winner. The judges evaluate their final dishes in a blind taste test and select the winner. 

Tune in on Aug. 16 at 9 p.m. CST on Food Network and cheer on Jacobs as he undoubtedly leaves his competition in his wake.
