Next up is the controversy brewing over chain restaurant Aloha Poke Co.’s (which has a location in the Third Ward) attempts to stop other businesses to stop using the words “Aloha” and “Poke” in their name, leading to charges of cultural appropriation.

This weekend only, Miller Time Pub & Grill is running two specials that smack of summer fair food. And looking ahead to next weekend, Pupusa Fest II ‒ celebrating the savory masa cakes of El Salvador ‒ takes place on Aug. 18 at Velobahn Coffee and Cycle (3618 W. Pierce St.).
