This Beloved Riverwest Deli Has Finally Reopened

Scardina Specialties offers up panini, pastas and sensational take-and-bake pizzas.

It’s going to be a busy week at Riverwest’s Scardina Specialties, which I’m happy to say is open – yeah! – in its new location (715 E. Locust St.). The Italian deli known for hand-made sausage, take-and-bake pizzas, sandwiches and cannoli had to vacate its old location on Chambers Street in 2021 because the building was condemned.

In these bright new digs the behind-the-counter chalkboard menu features a whole range of panini (caprese, prosciutto, meatball, $7-$12), the famous take-and-bake pizzas (various toppings $12-$16) and pastas, including spaghetti and meatballs, and pasta alla norma ($11-$14). Have patience if not all of the menu is available the day you arrive. More details once I’ve visited!

Hours:  Tues-Fri 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sat 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Sunday 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Closed Mondays.
