It’s a busy weekend in Milwaukee! This weekend includes live shows, a mini golf tournament, beer history and more.

Live Shows

My Favorite Murder – Live

You’ve probably heard them through your earbuds, and now you can hear them live. The iTunes top 10 “My Favorite Murder” hosts Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark come to Milwaukee on Thursday, May 16, and Friday, May 17, at 8 p.m. at the Riverside Theater (116 W. Wisconsin Ave.). The true crime enthusiasts will dive deeper into their well-known podcast.

Derek Hough: Live! The Tour

The dynamo dancer takes his stage presence to Milwaukee. Derek Hough performs his first live solo tour on Saturday, May 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Riverside Theater (116 W. Wisconsin Ave.). Derek will perform a variety of dancing styles, including ballroom, salsa, hip-hop and more.


Milwaukee On Tap

Ever wonder how Milwaukee became the master brewery destination that it is today? Lakefront Brewery (1872 N. Commerce St.) hosts Milwaukee On Tap – An Evening of Milwaukee Beer History with John Gurda Presented by the Lakefront Brewery Beer Academy on Sunday, May 19, starting at 7 p.m. Attendees can munch on a charcuterie board and sip on a Lakefront pint while learning about Milwaukee’s brewing history from historian John Gurda.

Company Brewing Turns Four

Company Brewing is turning four years old and invites the public to celebrate with a party on Friday, May 17, beginning at 10 p.m. at Company Brewing (735 E. Center St.). The event will feature live music from SistaStrings and Vincent Van Great, and of course plenty of beer.


The Queers, The Usuals, Avenues and Panic on Panic

Join four great rock bands for a night full of music. The Queers, the Usuals, Avenues and Panic on Panic will all perform on Friday, May 17, beginning at 7 p.m. at Walker’s Point Music Hall (538 W. National Ave.). The four different musical groups specialize in pop punk, punk rock, punk and indie rock.


Walker’s Point Mini Putt Putt Open

There’s nothing quite like a little summer mini golf competition. The Walker’s Point Mini Putt Putt Open takes place on Sunday, May 19, beginning at noon at Fat Daddy’s (120 W. National Ave.). There are ten bars participating and some will even shuttle you from bar to bar. Sign up with three other friends and play for a chance to win a prize for the top ten teams.


McCormick Hall Farewell Celebration

It’s the iconic Marquette University dorm that everyone loves to hate. Say goodbye properly to the beloved dorm with a McCormick Hall Farewell Celebration on Friday, May 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the residence hall (1530 W. Wisconsin Ave.). They will hold a brief program at 5:30 p.m. as well as pictures of the beer can dorm from throughout the years.

Rummage Sales

Move-Out Festival

Moving out is never exactly fun, but if you do it the right way, you can feel better about reusing. The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works, UWM Neighborhood Housing Office and UWM Office of Sustainability host a Move-Out Festival on Saturday, May 18, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Physics Building Parking Lot (1900 E. Kenwood Blvd.). The festival is open to anyone looking to properly dispose of household items and even browse and purchase items for free.

Bay View Neighborhood Rummage Sale

Looking for a final touch to your new apartment or some fun new clothing items? The Bay View Neighborhood Association (BVNA) hosts a Bay View Neighborhood Rummage Sale on Saturday, May 18, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at various BVNA-member households. Expect to find clothing, art, collectibles, sports memorabilia and more.
