There is no debate anymore: Milwaukee knows its chili. Milwaukee’s 13th Annual Chili Bowl presented by Gruber Law Offices returns to Potawatomi Casino and Hotel (1721 West Canal St.) on Sunday, Jan. 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For $17, chili-goers can taste 20 different kinds of chili, ranging from spicy to vegetarian and lots in between. The winner also gets the legendary Golden Ladle Award.
Umphrey’s McGee takes center stage at the Riverside Theater (116 W Wisconsin Ave.) for two nights on Jan. 25 and 26. Umphrey’s will showcase their “Wax on, Wax off” tour with special guests The Marcus King Band. Come one, come all for a rocking night of fun, dancing and great music.
Local Milwaukee musician IshDARR takes center stage Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Rave (2401 W Wisconsin Ave.) at 9:20 p.m. with doors opening at 7 p.m. The “Too Bad” and “Locals” singer attended Messmer High School and has since taken off in the hip hop scene. EMAAD, BoodahDARR and MT Twins, and DJ Brezzy each open for the artist starting at 8 p.m.
What’s better than a roller derby double header? A roller derby double header with your pup. The Brewcity Bruisers, a roller derby league, are opening their 2019 season on Sunday, Jan. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena (400 W Kilbourn Ave.).
