Things to Do This Weekend: Jan. 4-7

Don’t let the frigid temps keep you cooped up at home.

This musical, inspired by Adrienne Shelly’s 2007 film of the same name, satisfies as much as a slice of protagonist Jenna’s pie. Jenna dreams of winning a small-town baking competition and spending her winnings on a new, better life. Her story is sweet, but not cloyingly so. Catch the production at the Marcus Center for Performing Arts (929 N. Water St.) from Tuesday, January 2 through Sunday, January 7.

Original Cheesehead Factory Tour

On January 2, Foamation (1120 S. Barclay St.) – also known as the Original Cheesehead Factory – opened its factory doors to the public. The company is now offering tours of its new 16,000-square-foot facility. Tour options include “The Swiss,” “The Cheddar,” “The Holey Cow” and “The Curd Herd.” Each tour varies in length, price and offerings. If you opt for “The Holey Cow,” you get to craft your own Cheesehead! Tours are available Mondays through Saturdays

Wisconsin RV Show

Attention, all campers, road-trippers and RV enthusiasts! You won’t want to miss the Wisconsin RV Show Friday, January 5 through Sunday, January 7 at the Wisconsin Center (400 W. Riverwest Brewery Tour

Milwaukee hasn’t seen its current number of breweries since the 1800s, and Riverwest is home to many of them. The Riverwest Brewery Tour, which will be held four to five times per month beginning Saturday, January 6 through May 26, takes guests on a tour of four Riverwest breweries. For $55, you’ll get round trip transportation, a private tour and two 6 oz. beers at all four breweries.
