Deadline Approaching to Apply to Be Pfister’s Next Artist-in-Residence

Could you be the ninth artist-in-residence for the historic hotel?

There’s still time to apply for the Pfister’s Artist-in-Residence program.  The new artist, who will be the ninth artist-in-residence since the program was launched in 2009, will work in the Pfister’s art studio space and gallery, and will receive the opportunity to exhibit his or her work on the first floor of the historic hotel. Through art receptions, classes, events and gallery nights hosted by the resident artist, guests are given the unique opportunity to interact with the artist in an intimate and unique setting.

“It’s amazing to see the talent and vision of the artists that have worked in our studio gallery,” said Tim Smith, general manager of The Pfister Hotel. “Now in our ninth year, the program continues to evolve as we begin to augment some of the resident artist pieces as well as feature prints in our tower guestrooms. We look forward to meeting our next resident artist and seeing his or her work come to life.”

A committee of prominent Milwaukee art enthusiasts chooses the resident artist from a selection of talented candidates. The next artist will move into the studio on April 1, 2017, where they will work for one year. The resident artist is expected to spend a minimum of 30 hours a week on the site, in addition to participating in gallery nights and other events. The artist will create a legacy piece to be permanently displayed in The Pfister. Artists interested in the program can download the application online. The deadline to apply is Dec. 5.
