The Hoan Bridge Will Light Up Each Night of Hanukkah

Milwaukee Jewish Federation is partnering with Light the Hoan to transform the bridge into a menorah.

The Hoan Bridge will be lit as a menorah each night of Hanukkah (Dec. 25 – Jan. 1) in a partnership between the Milwaukee Jewish Federation and Light the Hoan.

The bridge’s support beams will be illuminated each night in a way that incorporates the design of the eight-candle Hanukkah menorah.

Light The Hoan is a nonprofit collective of local business and civic leaders who joined forces to illuminate the Hoan Bridge.

“Lighting the Hoan Bridge for Hanukkah is a symbol of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation’s commitment to being a guiding light for those in need,” the organization said in a statement. “From providing statewide security for Jewish institutions to offering aid to those in crisis around the world, supporting the Milwaukee Jewish Federation this Hanukkah helps empower critical programs that can uplift lives. We invite everyone in the Milwaukee area to join together to watch this meaningful light display on the Hoan.”

Families are encouraged to light their menorahs at home in conjunction with the lighting of the Hoan.

Candle lighting times for Hanukkah on the Hoan are as follows:

  • 25 at 6 p.m. – lighting of the Shamash (helper candle) and first candle of the menorah
