On Friday night, the Brewers’ uniforms will look a little different. During the home game against the Washington Nationals, the team is debuting a new patch, made in collaboration with Milwaukee-based financial services company Northwestern Mutual, the team’s first-ever patch partner.
The patch features the logo in Brewers navy blue and white, with inverted colors based on the style of jersey.
“Our partnership with Northwestern Mutual brings together two historic companies based in Milwaukee with a long history in supporting our communities,” said Rick Schlesinger, the Brewers president of business operations. “We’re proud to have Northwestern Mutual as our first ever patch sponsor.”
The agreement extends well beyond a jersey patch sponsorship and includes supporting efforts to raise awareness and funds for fighting childhood cancer, a mission that Northwestern Mutual has long championed and the Brewers have enthusiastically supported, he said.
“When we started this journey of looking at jersey patch partners, we wanted an iconic brand associated with our brand, we wanted a hometown organization that cares about the community, we wanted something best-in-class in their industry and who cares for their employees,” Schlesinger said at an event at American Family Field on Friday morning. “Northwestern Mutual checked all the boxes.”
Through their expanded partnership, the organizations will continue to raise funds in support of Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, with the goal of finding better treatments, health outcomes and cures for childhood cancer. There will be a significant increase of these efforts beginning in 2024.
During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, the Brewers will identify a home series and donate $1 for every ticket sold for those games to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. In addition, the Brewers and Northwestern Mutual will team up on a season-long in-game charitable donation, up to $25,000 to the foundation. Prior to the 2024 season, additional programs to raise money and awareness for the cause will be announced.
The expanded multi-year partnership also designates Northwestern Mutual as the team’s exclusive financial planning services firm.
“Northwestern Mutual’s expanded partnership with the Milwaukee Brewers underscores our ongoing commitment to our hometown of Milwaukee and the Brewers,” Northwestern Mutual chairman, president, and CEO John Schlifske said.
