1. Watch Bobby Play in the Bucks Game on Tuesday
CAROLE NICKSIN, EDITOR AND PUBLISHER
Anyone who knows me will know exactly where to find me on Tuesday night: at Fiserv Forum, screaming my head off to welcome Bobby Portis back to the court! Welcome back, Bobby!
2. Snack On Sausages at The Vanguard
EVAN MUSIL, ARTS AND CULTURE EDITOR
The smell of sausage is in the air. Literally – we had to close our windows because the smoky aroma was getting in the house. So when my parents visited town two weekends ago, I had to take them to Milwaukee’s top brat shop, The Vanguard. My dad got a brat Chicago-style, but I had the Berlin Currywurst, a frankfurter topped with grilled onion, mayo, ketchup and curry dust. I was cagey over the lack of bun – it’s served on a bed of fries instead – but it won me over. Maybe I should make for the streets of Berlin. But for now, I have The Vanguard.

Tell us who you’d pick to be a Betty this year!
3. Try Dubai Chocolate
ANN CHRISTENSON, DINING EDITOR
The Dubai chocolate trend is HOT. It started with the a chocolate bar inspired by the Arabic dessert called knafeh. Knafeh can vary depending on where you are in the Middle East, but it typically has a pan-fried “crust” of spun phyllo dough with a sweet cheese filling, and it’s soaked in sugar or honey syrup and topped with crushed pistachios. The chocolate bar version has a filling of oozy, green pistachio cream and strands of crispy pastry. I’ve been reading about this craze since last summer. I’ll be honest: I haven’t had the bar. I want all the offshoots – desserts inspired by Dubai chocolate. And they’re here. The local bakery that seems to be taking it the furthest is Batter and Mac (locations in Bay View and Menomonee Falls). They’ve hosted one Dubai Chocolate Day already (April 5). And they’re doing it again this Saturday, April 12. They’re being secretive about the menu, but for the last event, they gave hints: “There will be chocolate. There will be croissants.” They also advised coming early – very smart.
Matilda Bakehouse in Fox Point featured a Dubai chocolate croissant last weekend. Before lazily heading up there on Sunday morning, I called to see what they had left. I was an hour too late. They’d sold out by 10 a.m.
4. Join Me in UWM’s Free Email Management Webinar
CHRIS DROSNER, EXECUTIVE EDITOR
Email sucks. Suuuuuuucks! Everyone hates it. And after decades of ignoring the problem, I’m going to try to address it with this lunchtime webinar next week offered by UW-Milwaukee’s School of Continuing Education with the low-key sexy appeal of “taking control of my inbox.” It’s led by Kim Rogne, described as a “certified high-performance coach, speaker and No. 1 author” – the type of resume I normally recoil from, but we’re all desperate here, people! I know it’s not a burger or a beer, but this is the degree to which the leading tech companies have failed us: We’re giving up recommendations for things we actually love to fix the problem they’ve created. Noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, April 17. Register for free here.
5. Explore Milwaukee’s Arts Scene at Gallery Night
ARCHER PARQUETTE, MANAGING EDITOR
Imagine Batman. But instead of crime – art appreciation. You see what I’m saying? No? Well … OK, let me explain. Three times a year, Gallery Night opens Milwaukee’s many arts destinations for a late night of after-hours exploration. Gallery owners and artists are often on-site to discuss their work with you. Roam the streets from the Third Ward to East Town to Walker’s Point stopping in dozens of galleries – like Kim Storage, Portrait Society, Var, the Grohmann Museum and many more – along the way. It’s quite a bit of fun patrolling the streets at night in search of art to appreciate – like Batman. You see what I’m saying?
