High Stakes

A richly appointed dining room glows in deep crimson and gold, with curved red leather banquettes wrapping around white-tablecloth tables set with china, crystal and small shaded lamps. Oversized arrangements of feathery pampas grass rise dramatically from the center of the room, while pleated pendant shades, brass-framed lanterns and a patterned coffered ceiling add layers of warm, theatrical lighting. The walls are crowded with an eclectic mix of framed art, textiles and decorative objects, including a large geometric tapestry and a faceted, gold-edged mirror. Soft upholstered dining chairs, polished dark floors and carefully arranged place settings reinforce the room’s formal, clubby atmosphere.
