The Wisconsin State Cow Chip Throw and Festival, happening Sept. 2-3, is serious business. First and foremost, the chip-chucking competition involving dried fecal Frisbees draws hundreds of contestants – Milwaukee’s own Joseph Barnes took third place in the 2015 men’s division with more than 153 feet. Second, the Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, festival attracts plain old fun seekers like flies, some 40,000 in fact. “We’ve gotten rid of a little of the cow chip phobia,” says Marietta Reuter, one of the organizers.
