The new location is set for a building undergoing renovations on South Fifth Street.

The original Fuel Cafe in Riverwest (808 E. Center St.) ‒ home of the Buttafucco sandwich (how many Millennials know what that refers to?) ‒ is getting a Walker’s Point brother, at 650 S. Fifth St., a building currently under renovation. Fuel’s Scott Johnson and Leslie Montemurro are working with their BelAir Cantina partners Kristyn Eitel and Noe Zamora.

The partners are calling it a “new concept Fuel” since it will operate as a full-service restaurant along with a cafe counter and outdoor seating. The floor plan allows for a “street side cafe” that will open early daily for coffee, grab-and-go items and a line of bakery made in-house. According to press materials, the main bar and restaurant area will be set behind the bar and offer breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as Saturday and Sunday brunch.

Executive chef Zamora is working on the Fuel menu, and local architecture firm Rinka-Chung is spearheading the design. Fuel number two is expected to open in summer 2016.
