While Wisconsin has continued to buck a national trend toward legalizing cannabis, the neighboring states of Minnesota, Michigan and Illinois all have legalized at least some uses of the drug.
Minnesota has allowed medical marijuana since 2014 and is currently considering legislation to legalize recreational use. Recreational cannabis has been sold in Michigan since 2019 and Illinois since 2020.
