Tuesday, April 7: Foxygen with Alex Cameron at Turner Hall Ballroom, 8 p.m. ($15)
The last time Foxygen came through Milwaukee in 2013, the psych pop band were tearing from the seams. A former touring member had just written a blog post about the splintered dynamic between the two main songwriters — Jonathan Rado and Sam France. Needless to say, tension was high. That Turner Hall Ballroom show felt like taking a live look-in on a soap opera and had the possibility of falling apart at any moment. Now, Foxygen are back with a new album, 2014’s expansive …And Star Power and are embarking on their self-described “Farewell Tour” loaded with a nine-piece band, even though it’s not Foxygen’s last round of shows, rather the final tour with The Star Power band. Wednesday, April 8: King Courteen with Caley Conway, Ash, Myles Coyne and Thurman Merman at Linneman’s Riverwest Inn, 9 p.m. ($6)
One of Riverwest’s most promising, intimate folk troubadours — in a neighborhood teaming with them — is Michael Gerlach, who goes by the moniker King Courteen, named after the Walker’s Point Courteen Seed Building. Catch him Wednesday night at Linneman’s with folk contemporaries Caley Conway (of Caley Conway and the Lucy Cukes) and Myles Coyne (of Myles Coyne & the Rusty Nickel Band, Ladders, Temple and Animals in Human Attire). (1001 E. Locust St., Linnemans.com)
Thursday, April 9: Neil Diamond at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, 8 p.m. ($36.50-$147)
Admit it—we’ve all shouted the lyrics to “Sweet Caroline” at some joyous or regrettable time in our lives. The tune lives seemingly on every jukebox and throughout stadium PA speakers across the world, so its persistence guarantees that the cheesy but infectious melody will hit us at the right moment sometimes. But if you’re going to the Bradley Center on Thursday to finally hear Neil Diamond sing that euphoric ballad, you may end up disappointed, as his voice will undoubtedly be drowned out by the sea of fans singing along. Also: Papadosio with TAUK at Turner Hall Ballroom, 8 p.m. ($15) – (1032 N. 4th St., PabstTheater.org)
Friday, April 10: The Midwestern Charm with Haunted Heads, Mooner and The Midwest Beat at Riverwest Public House, 9 p.m. ($5)
The Midwestern Charm eschewed its twangy guitars on 2014’s sophomore full-length, Growing Pains, and instead pumped up the volume to eardrum-bursting levels. An intoxicating cocktail of noisy power pop and angst-fueled lyrics, the album still feels fresh after repeated listens, which is perhaps thanks to how pristine the thing was recorded (with Shane Hostettler at Howl Street Recordings, of course) but also to the sugar-sweet hooks that never seem to grow stale. (815 E. Locust St., RiverwestPublicHouse.WordPress.com)
Also: Ramma Lamma with Mystery Date, Braver and Fox Face at Quarters Rock ‘n Roll Palace, 10 pm. ($5) – (900 E. Center St.)

Saturday, April 11: Twin Shadow with Erik Hassle at Turner Hall Ballroom, 8 p.m. ($13 advance; $15 door)
The sultry synth pop singer Twin Shadow set his sights toward the sky on his third album, Eclipse. It’s his biggest album to date, in regards to promotion—he left indie label 4AD for Warner Bros—and sonic scope—the singer enters full power ballad mode on Eclipse. It’s a bold move, as the increased exposure could help him rocket to new heights or lead him to quickly burn out. (1032 N. 4th St., PabstTheater.org)

Sunday, April 12: Sheer Mag with Peach Kelli Pop, Frankie Teardrop and Platinum Boys at Cocoon Room, 7 p.m. ($8)
This incredibly loaded bill at the Cocoon Room on Sunday features the big guitars and nasally vocals of Philadelphia’s Thin Lizzy-loving Sheer Mag (short for Sheer Magnitude), the scrappy Californian power pop five-piece Peach Kelli Pop, Minneapolis’ fuzzed-out rockers Frankie Teardrop, and of course, hometown heroes Platinum Boys. This could turn out to be the most fun show this spring. (820 E. Locust St.)
Also: Duncan Reid & The Big Heads with The Brothers Gross, Indonesian Junk and Holy Shit! at Cactus Club, 9 p.m. – (2496 S. Wentworth Ave., CactusClubMilwaukee.com)
