Here’s to the green beer, corned beef and cabbage

In Milwaukee, St. Patrick’s Day observations encompass much of the month of March. And given that it’s perfectly acceptable to drink green beer and tell people to kiss you (even if you aren’t actually Irish), we’re not mad about it. In a city of Irish heritage and dedicated beer drinkers, it only makes sense Milwaukee goes all out for the holiday. Here’s your guide to some of the top events around the city.

ShamROCK the Avenue

March 9
Miller Time Pub

Help kick off the parade the night before! Come down to the Miller Time Pub to enjoy singers Ian Gould and Pat McCurdy in anticipation of the big event the following day.

52nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade

March 10
3rd St. and Wisconsin

Join the city of Milwaukee for the largest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the city! Stepping off at noon, the holiday spectacle stretches its way downtown, ending at Water and Highland.

St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast at County Clare

March 17
County Clare

Celebrate all day, starting at 6 a.m. with a traditional Irish breakfast at County Clare on the Lower East Side. The day doesn’t start and stop with breakfast, though. Enjoy Celtic acts and performers all day until 10 p.m.

Irish Dance Lessons and Performance

March 17
Milwaukee Public Museum

Did you ever want to learn how to dance like many of the Irish groups you see? Well, the Milwaukee Public Museum is hosting an event that finally promises you the opportunity. Starting at 1 p.m., a performance by Trinity Academy of Irish Dance will be followed by lessons for all. The event is free with the price of admission into the museum.
