On Dec. 7, you better watch out. That morning, thousands of Santa Clauses and other holiday icons will take over the streets of Milwaukee – riding bikes instead of sleighs. The Santa Cycle Rampage has grown over the years from an informal pub crawl to the festive mob it is today.
Wisconsin Bike Fed organizes the red-suited affair, which snakes through the city from the Wheel & Sprocket in Bay View to the East Side Café Hollander and promotes pedestrian safety and winter biking. Says assistant director and “head Santa in charge” Jake Newborn: “Even in the coldest and wettest years, it’s tons of smiles.”
