Milwaukee Cocktail Week Hits Town Sept. 26-Oct. 2

Special dinners, tiki takeovers and one-night drinking events at area bars and restaurants.

Milwaukee Cocktail Week (Sept. 26-Oct. 2) is making the rounds of venues across the city. The first event is the Kickoff Bangarang Party on Monday the 26th (9 p.m.) at Rogues Gallery (134 E. Juneau Ave.), which will serve slushies, “popcicles” and other drinks prepared by the people set to open Phoenix Cocktail Club on Jefferson Street.

On Tuesday, Sept. 27, a handful of local bars are hosting special Tiki Night happy hours (4-7 p.m.). One example is the six tiki cocktails offered at The Outsider rooftop patio at the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel (310 E. Chicago St.). Each drink (mai tai, Painkiller, $10 each) features spirits by First Street’s Twisted Path Distillery.  Other tiki happy hour participants include Bryant’s (1579 S. Ninth St.) and Lost Valley Cider Co. (408 W. Florida St.). The same night (Sept. 27), Chicago tiki bar Lost Lake takes over Wolf Peach (1818 N. Hubbard St.) from 8 p.m.-midnight.

Two food-oriented highlights from this event:

*Goodkind’s “Get Low” Dinner (Sept. 28, 6:30-10 p.m.) featuring five courses and low-ABV cocktails. (2457 S. Wentworth Ave.)

*Dandan’s “Straying From the Path” Re-imagined Classics cocktail dinner (Sept. 29, 6:30-10 p.m.). Five courses of Prohibition-era food with a modern interpretation. (360 E. Erie St.)

Cost and some menu information are on the Milwaukee Cocktail Week website.
