Radio Milwaukee has removed the interim tag and named Maggie Corry, executive director of the Walker’s Point nonprofit radio station.
Corry worked at Radio Milwaukee (WYMS-88.9 FM) from June 2016 to February 2022, leading membership and development. She returned to the station in July 2025 as deputy executive director and was named interim executive director in July following the departure of Jordan Lee.
“I’m honored to take on this role and wanted to tell you what it means to me, as well as why our community is at the center of it,” Corry said in a message to supporters of the station. “Radio Milwaukee exists to do two things: share music that moves people and tell stories that bring this city closer together. That focus is what makes this station special, and it’s what our team has protected through a lot of change over the past year. Those moments of connection, whether it’s a song during your commute or a story that makes you feel at home, are why I’m so glad to be here.”
Radio Milwaukee will look to Corry to create stability in the leadership role as she becomes the station’s fourth executive director in four years. She replaces Lee, a Radio Milwaukee stalwart who was charged in August with first-degree sexual assault of a child. Lee, a Kenosha native, spent more than 16 years across two stints at Radio Milwaukee including serving in various leadership roles, before becoming executive director in April 2025.
Lee had replaced Maxie C. Jackson III, who took over the top leadership role at Radio Milwaukee in September 2022 after a stint at New England Public Media. Jackson departed in January 2025. Before Jackson was Kevin Sucher, who resigned in January 2022 after less than two years on the job.
“As the board considered how to move forward, we determined that we needed a leader who understood the challenges of our business model, who had a passion for community and the importance of nonprofit organizations, and who embodied the collaborative, empathetic and forward-thinking characteristics we endeavor to demonstrate as an organization,” Radio Milwaukee Board Chairman Al Orr said in a statement provided to Milwaukee Magazine. “Maggie has earned the confidence and respect of the staff and has the character and temperament for this role, and she has the unanimous and enthusiastic support of the board.”
Corry, who earned an undergraduate degree in art history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a master’s degree in public administration from New York University, said in her message that her goal as executive director is “to keep music and human connection at the heart of everything we do, and to make sure our stories stay relevant to Milwaukee and inspire people to take action in their own neighborhoods.”
“Maggie brings the qualifications and experience needed to advance Radio Milwaukee’s mission,” Orr went on to say in his statement. “She was very effective in her prior role as deputy executive director, making dramatic improvements in key operational areas. She has shown considerable skill, a passion for and a commitment to our mission, and a thoughtful and empathetic approach. She expects excellence from herself, the organization and the team she leads. The board shares those high expectations.”
In the message to supporters, Corry wrote that the station’s recent Fall Ball “brought us together,” while noting that Radio Milwaukee’s partnership with WUWM (89.7-FM) is “strengthening public media across Milwaukee.”
“Stepping into this role means building on the many incredible things we’ve accomplished this year,” Corry wrote.
