Jenni Yolo, local designer and founder of I Spy DIY, is opening a new store in Walker’s Point this week.
The 600-square foot “small-but-mighty” shop, Jenni Yolo Home (907 W. National Ave.), will open July 11. Yolo said despite the smaller size, she hopes to host workshops in the event space behind the store.
She said that the process of creating this store was very quick. The space was found a couple of months ago, and from then on it only took about two weeks to get the store shopper ready.
“It kind of was just the perfect opportunity to dip my toe into trying to have a store,” Yolo shared. “The space was already so beautiful, and was all painted white, so it was a great backdrop for all my products. It just feels very intimate and cozy, and a great place where I can get off the internet and chat with people in real life.”

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!
Jenni Yolo has been DIYing homes since 2015, and she began her television show “Makeover by Monday” on the Magnolia Network in 2022. On the show, she finds solutions for difficult spaces and brings the final product to life with help from her husband, David. Since then, the show started the whole ball rolling with renovating houses, she said.
“Walker’s Point is near and dear to me. We have three houses in Walker’s Point, so I love this neighborhood,” Yolo said. “When I saw it was available, I decided to reach out and asked if I could sign a lease for six months to see how much I like having a store.”
Yolo shared that the store will have curated vintage goods and art, products from Yolo Home Co. – a brand she created with women-owned and Milwaukee-based businesses – her wallpaper with Chasing Paper and pillows sewn by Emily from Penny and Ivy.

Pricing for the store varies, Yolo added. She shared that the art would be higher priced, but that she tries to have something for everyone.
“We have like a lot of small tchotchkes that are as inexpensive as a couple dollars to oil paintings that could be like a little over $100. But we try to have everything really affordable.”
Hours for the store are not finalized yet, Yolo said; however, it will be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday every week and guests should check back to Jenni’s Instagram for the exact hours. This weekend, July 11-13 from noon to 2 p.m. each day, is the soft opening.
