Milwaukee’s Female Entrepreneurs Inspire Audiences at Monthly Speaker Series

Each month, local female business owners share their success stories at The Ruby Tap in Mequon.

Since July 2017, local female entrepreneurs have been sharing their stories – how they started their businesses, the challenges they’ve overcome and how they’ve obtained success – at The Ruby Tap‘s Mequon location as part of a monthly speaker series.

The women of Melnick & Melnick, S.C. developed She Stands Tall as a community to support local female business owners, both personally and professionally. In July 2017, She Stands Tall launched its monthly speaker series, which quickly created a buzz around Milwaukee.

“The 2017 She Stands Tall speakers covered topics that resonated with female professionals, including managing staffing challenges, maintaining a work-life balance, and thriving in a male-dominated industry,” says founder Stephanie Melnick. “We hope future speakers continue to inspire Milwaukee area women to think big.”

This month’s speaker is Caitlin Cullen, the head chef and owner of The Tandem (1848 W. Fond du Lac Ave.), a Southern-style restaurant in Lindsay Heights. Cullen chose the restaurant’s location with the idea that it could be a “bridge” between Northern and Downtown Milwaukee. She hopes to create economic opportunities in the poverty-stricken community by hiring almost all of her employees from the neighborhood.

Listen to Cullen speak about her journey to success on Monday, January 8 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at The Ruby Tap (6000 W. Mequon Rd., Mequon). Tickets cost $7 and include light appetizers. Discounted glasses of wine can be purchased for an additional $6.
