Earlier this month, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum in Milwaukee announced a Dr. Fauci bobblehead in his honor, which $5 of the proceeds would go to the Protect the Heroes fund as a part of the 100 Million Mask campaign to provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to the medical community. On Wednesday, they announced a new bobblehead would be joining Dr. Fauci as the newest COVID-19 related bobblehead. Who might this new bobblehead be of? Well, Dr. Deborah Birx, of course.
Dr. Birx is the Coronavirus Response Coordinator for the White House Coronavirus Task Force specializing in immunology, global health and vaccine research. Like Dr. Fauci, she has played a key role in the effort to combat COVID-19.
“Dr. Birx started her career as a clinician in immunology, eventually focusing on HIV/AIDS vaccine research before serving as Ambassador-at-Large and United States Global AIDS Coordinator from 2014 through 2020,” explained the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum in a press release on Wednesday. “She is deeply respected in Washington diplomatic circles and among public health experts and flew home from South Africa to head the response team as the COVID-19 outbreak hit the United States.”
Dr. Brix’s bobblehead will feature her adorned in one of her signature scarves with her hands poised mid-air to display her passionately articulating a point.
“Sales of the bobbleheads will benefit the same cause that we have raised over $130,000 and counting for through the sale of Dr. Fauci bobbleheads, which quickly became our best-selling bobblehead last week,” says Phil Sklar, Co-Founder and CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum. “We have received a lot of requests for a bobblehead of Dr. Birx and are excited to be releasing it to honor Dr. Birx and raise more funds for the 100 Million Mask Challenge during these unprecedented times.”
For those interested in purchasing a bobblehead, they can do so here. The bobbleheads cost $25 with a flat-rate shipping fee of $8 with $5 of the proceeds going to the 100 Million Mask Challenge.
“Bobbleheads are the ultimate honor, and we think Dr. Birx deserves it given what she has done and continues to do for our country and the world in the battle against COVID-19,” says Sklar in a press release on Wednesday.
