Downtown’s The Soup House to Permanently Close

Soup’s on until Thursday.

The Soup House (324 E. Michigan St.), which has filled lunchtime bellies since 2000, is closing for good on April 29. It’s sad news – announced via the restaurant’s Facebook page – but there’s still time a little to get in there for a last bowl or two of the good stuff.  I’m a fan of the tikka masala and am happy to see they’ll be serving it one more time.

On its last operating days (Tues-Thurs, April 27-29), the Soup House is open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The menu is as follows:

  • Tuesday: chicken soup, split pea, buffalo chicken, Jamaican chicken stew
  • Wednesday: chicken soup, Brazilian black bean, BBQ chili, creamy tomato
  • Thursday: chicken soup, tikka masala, beer-cheese chowder, carrot coconut curry

You can call in orders ahead of time: 414-277-7687.

Here is part of the soup shop’s closing announcement:

Come say hi! Come say bye! Just don’t cry! We have a tight menu for you! Including some Soup House favs as well as two new soups!

We can’t thank everyone enough for the insane amount of soup you all have eaten over the past 21 years! We have had such a blast feeding you, clowning around, talking about current events and best of all having customers become friends!
