Check Out Milwaukee Rep’s Newly Renovated Theater Complex

The $80 million renovation had its grand opening with a concert by Bernadette Peters on Oct. 11.

Nearly 17 months and $80.1 million in the making, the Milwaukee Repertory Theater cut the ribbon and opened the doors to its renovated theater complex on Saturday. Tony Award-winning Broadway singer Bernadette Peters performed the christening concert in the Checota Powerhouse Theater, packed with donors, patrons and press.

The 568-to-671-seat Powerhouse Theater, with wider seats and improved sight lines, is just one of the larger improvements to the newly named Associated Bank Theater Center, including a brand-new accessible glass entrance on Wells Street, a lobby connecting all three theaters, an education center, a donor lounge and more. Renovations to the Herro-Franke Studio Theater are expected to be completed early next year.
