This Bites: The Tandem, Bottomless Mimosas, Pastiche and More

Welcome to the culinary podcast that always ends with the sentence, “Stay hungry… and keep the Malort cold.” Yep, that’s This Bites. Our segment airs at 8 a.m. Fridays on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee, and we post our extended, podcast version here.

And we head into it with what’s happening at The Tandem in Lindsay Heights. Executive chef Caitlin Cullen is looking for help keeping the 3-year-old restaurant open while she recuperates from a serious ankle injury. The help could come in the form of experienced chefs, bartenders, hosts and servers. And it could come in the form of donations. We talk more about that. 

Do you like weekend brunch? How about mimosas? Bottomless mimosas are a thing in this town, and I offer suggestions on where you can brunch well and get a mimosa that does not end. Listen to hear about those restaurants. 

Pastiche has two locations (Brown Deer and Downtown at Hotel Metro), but at the end of 2019, the Downtown restaurant will be no more. This is because the hotel is undergoing renovations and in the process of being sold. In other news, Tarik and I talk about the themed dinners at Rumpus Room during the run of the Broadway play, Hamilton, and the opening of the diner Wonderland near Art Bar in Riverwest.
