This Bites: Festa Italiana, Chicago's New Supper Club and More

The culinary podcast featuring 88Nine’s Tarik Moody and MilMag’s Ann Christenson talking about all things dining-related.

This week’s edition of This Bites, the culinary podcast on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee, is just a pair of ear buds away.

In our lead topic, the annual Festa Italiana (held this weekend at the Summerfest grounds), you’ll learn about the new food and beverage items offered this year. (When it comes to drinks, think aperol spritz!) And if love picking up some new tricks in the kitchen, check out the cooking demos.

Wisconsinites claim the supper club as their own. It is a Badger state creation. Now, some fancy chefs south of the Wisco border are trying to get in on the fish fry/brandy old fashioned action. The owners of Windy City’s tony Alinea restaurant recently opened the St. Clair Supper Club, where dinner is by no means a cheap date. We’ll explain more on our episode.

In other topics, we talk the plans for a Latin-focused pizzeria on the South Side’s Mitchell Street and the opening of a crab house Downtown. The name? Crab It Your Way. Is it worth checking out? We help you decide.

Listen to “‘Festa Italiana 2019,’ Chicago does a supper club, Pizza, and Crabs everywhere!” on Spreaker.

Ann Christenson has covered dining for Milwaukee Magazine since 1997. She was raised on a diet of casseroles that started with a pound of ground beef and a can of Campbell's soup. Feel free to share any casserole recipes with her.
