This Bites: Centraal Grand Cafe & Tappery, Plus Pasta and Paczki

On the latest This Bites podcast on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee, we talk about the reopening of Centraal Grand Cafe & Tappery (formerly called Cafe Centraal) after renovations, additions to the tap lines  (tripling them from 23 to 70) as well as some new things on the food menu.

Thomas Hauck, culinary director for parent company The Lowlands Group, added a “snaacks” section to go with the beverage offerings, along with friets or fries, including those covered with lots of toppings.

The new food hall Crossroads Collective recently announced a new vendor-to-be, Egg & Flour Pasta Bar, which is expected to open in mid-March. The business, run by chef Adam Pawlak (late of Black Sheep in Walker’s Point), will offer fresh pastas including mac and cheese and pasta Bolognese on its regular menu, plus changing and rotating stuffed pastas and chef features.    

And finally, Fat Tuesday isn’t here until March 5, which means a few weeks yet before the paczki (Polish doughnuts) are out in full force.  or maybe not… On Sunday Feb. 24, locals can help decide the best paczki in the city at the Paczki Preview Party at the Polish Center of Wisconsin. Vendors include Cranky Al’s and Le Reve Patisserie & Cafe. My co-host Tarik Moody and I offer all deets.
