BEST FRENCH BULLDOG:
Petunia
In the beginning, Petunia, a French bulldog, was the runt of the litter. Her breeder didn’t expect her to grow much beyond 20 pounds. Nevertheless, at five months, the cream-colored puppy seized a high honor: Milwaukee’s Cutest Frenchie, in a vote Milwaukee Magazine organized at Bastille Days in July. Petunia (Tunie for short), so relaxed that she dozed off during her crowning, faced fierce competition, including a Frenchie dressed in a striped shirt to match his owner’s. Controversy arose over Petunia’s perceived cuteness advantage as a puppy, but owner Paige Smith, a nurse, feels confident that all the dogs got a fair shake. “The people voted,” she says.
