Tastings and beer celebrations abound, but it's also a big week for limited beer releases. Plan your weekend accordingly.

Wednesday, Sept. 20

The Milwaukee Beer Society celebrates Oktoberfest at Best Place (901 W. Juneau Ave.) from 6 to 9 p.m. The cost is $10 to sample a few tastes of the style.

The Wild Wednesday Craft Beer Cruise wraps up its season by hosting 3 Sheeps Brewery. Choose between 5:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Tickets are just $29.

Boulder Brewery takes over the taps at Ray’s Growler Gallery (8930 W. North Ave.) starting at 5 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 21

The Brass Tap (7808 W. Layton Ave.) is tapping the new Founder’s Green Zebra Watermelon Gose at 7 p.m. (Note: I recently tried the brew and liked it way more than I thought I would. It’s a nice balance of fruit and tart.) But that’s not all. With every pint you drink you get the chance to smash a watermelon with a mallet. Sounds good to me.

Gathering Place Brewing Company (811 E. Vienna Ave.) is introducing its ninth beer, Treffpunkt Kolsch at 3 p.m. The list of brews continues to grow at this month-old brewery.

Friday, Sept. 22

Raised Grain Brewing (2244 W. Bluemound Rd.) is releasing Double Dry Hopped Naked Threesome IPA at 3 p.m. There’s a two-bottle limit per person but it will also be on tap.

Dogfish Head hands out samples at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) from 4 to 7 p.m.

Try WarPigs Lazurite IPA at Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) from 4 to 7 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 23

Good City Brewing (2108 N. Farwell Ave.) is releasing its next barrel-aged beer to the general public at 10 a.m. Sante Saison is aged in Chardonnay barrels and will probably go quickly.

Raise a glass to Raised Grain at the brewery’s second anniversary party, which starts at noon. Get there early because they’re tapping a bourbon-barrel aged Black Walnut Belgian Imperial Stout to start the festivities. Raised Grain is also tapping a Les Trois Docteurs Belgian Quad at 3 p.m. and the delicious No. 100 Stout at 6 p.m. There will be music and food if the great beer selections aren’t enough to keep you entertained.

Like Minds Brewing (823 E. Hamilton St.) is releasing a limited amount of Quince D’Or, a 20-month barrel-aged sour golden ale at noon.

Revolution Brewing takes over a few of the taps at The Brass Tap starting at 4 p.m.

Here’s hoping you’ve trained for the MVP Beer Run. The unique 5K run starts at 11 a.m. at both Third Space Brewing (1505 W. St. Paul Ave.) and City Lights Brewing (2200 Mt. Vernon Ave.) with half of the participants at each. Runners head to the brewery they didn’t start at, down a beer and head back to where they came for a celebratory brew. Tickets are $35 and proceeds benefit the Menomonee Valley Partners.

WarPigs offers samples at Discount Liquor Milwaukee from noon to 3 p.m.

Discount Liquor Waukesha has samples of Dogfish Head brews from noon to 3 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 24

The Brewery Series at Sugar Maple (441 E. Lincoln Ave.) features Door County Brewing Company from 4 to 6 p.m. Try five samples of brews from scenic northern Wisconsin for just $15 and learn about the brewery.
