Beer Events Brewing This Week: Nov. 1-5

Fall is finally here, which means the timing is perfect for a stout tap takeover at The Brass Tap. That’s just one of many beer-related events to choose from this week.

Wednesday, Nov. 1

The Milwaukee Beer Society hosts its 25th homebrew night at Best Place (901 W. Juneau Ave.). If you’re a homebrewer, bring at least a four-pack of your best. If you’re not a homebrewer, come for the tasting from 6 to 9 p.m.

Founders Brewing takes over the taps at Draft & Vessel (4417 N. Oakland Ave.) at 6 p.m. and the highlight is a vertical of Backwoods Bastard Barrel-Aged Scotch Ale. Try samples from 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Thursday, Nov. 2

Black Husky Brewing founders Tim and Toni Eichinger host a Behind the Beer event at Ray’s Wine & Spirits (8930 W. North Ave.). Hear what it takes to be a brewer and sample five pours from the hosts. This event is not to be missed and only costs $20.

Uber Tap Room (1048 N. Old World Third St.) has another great pairing. This one matches New Glarus beers with artisan cheeses. The tasting starts at 6 p.m. and costs just $12.

Untitled Art brings samples to Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) from 4 to 7 p.m.

Learn about the science of brewing from the folks at The Fermentorium at the Frank L. Weyenberg Library (11345 N. Cedarburg Rd.). The learning runs from 6 to 7 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 3

Stout lovers need to be at The Brass Tap (7808 W. Greenfield Ave.). Stouts are taking over the taps, and there are more than a few standouts pouring. Highlights include Three Floyds Crack the Skye Barrel-Aged Russian Imperial Stout, Founders KBS and Perennial Sump Coffee Stout, but the full list features many more quality brews.

Saugatuck Brewing makes the trip to Discount Liquor Milwaukee from Michigan. Try their stuff from 3 to 6 p.m.

Try samples from Sierra Nevada from 4 to 7 p.m. at Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.).

Saturday, Nov. 4

Join Champps Brookfield (1240 S. Moorland Rd.) for the annual Kaden’s Wish. The fundraiser benefits Make-A-Wish Wisconsin and runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come for the specials and the cause, but be sure to bring your checkbook for the great silent auction. The entire event is a tribute to 12-year-old Kaden Stark, who battles a rare mitochondrial disease, and his family. The Starks have been a big part of granting 25 wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.

Cellar beers are the weekly free tasting at both Three Cellars locations (7228 S. 27th St. and N72 W13400 Lund Lane, Menomonee Falls) from 1 to 4 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 5

The Milwaukee Beer Run has it figured out. Participants can choose between a timed 5K or an untimed .05K. Take your pick and enjoy a few beers after your efforts at Veterans Park (1010 N. Lincoln Memorial Dr.). The fun starts at 10 a.m. and costs $45 for the .05K or $50 for the 5K.
