Beer Events Brewing This Week: Food Truck Rally, Beer Garden 5K, Beer and Cheese School & More

Two beer runs, hazy IPAs, food trucks, limited beer releases, cheese — this week has it all for craft beer lovers.

Wednesday, July 10

Ray’s Growler Gallery (8930 W. North Ave.) hosts the Hazy Days of Summer tap takeover at 5 p.m. Don’t miss it if you like New England IPAs.

The Milwaukee Beer Society takes a trip to Broken Bat Brewing (231 E. Buffalo St.) from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The NEWaukee Night Market takes place from 5 to 10 p.m. on Wisconsin Avenue between Plankinton and Vel R. Phillips Avenue. Check out live music, food trucks and other vendors while sipping on local craft beer from Eagle Park, Gathering Place, Sprecher, Milwaukee Brewing, MobCraft and Third Space.

Third Space Brewing (1505 W. St. Paul Ave.) releases its Mango IPA. It’s part of the brewery’s Beers About Nothing series, beers available only in the taproom.

Thursday, July 11

The Beer Garden 5K Series comes to Lake Park (975 N. Lake Park Rd.). The run starts at 6:30 p.m., but get there a little early to sign up or warm up. The cost is $35.

Sugar Maple (441 E. Lincoln Ave.) hosts the launch party for Lakefront’s new My Turn: Junk, at 6 p.m. The refreshing kettle sour made with cherries and Sakura tea. Cheers to Andy Jungwirth at Lakefront, who kindly provides me with a weekly events list, for creating what sounds like a great summer beer.

The Flights of Fancy Bierklasse at Centraal Grand Cafe and Tappery (2306 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.) lets attendees choose curated tasting flights from 7 to 9 p.m. You also get a crowler to take home. Tickets are $45.

Beer and Cheese School comes to Glorioso’s Italian Market (1011 E. Brady St.) at 5:30 p.m. Pair beers from Raised Grain Brewing with Deer Creek Cheese offerings for just $35.

I just did my first F45 workout a couple of weeks ago and can vouch for its intensity (in a good way). You can try the high-intensity interval training workout yourself at Good City Brewing (2108 N. Farwell Ave.) at 5:30 p.m. followed by a complimentary beer. Sounds good to me.

Friday, July 12

The Riverwest Food Truck Rally comes to Gathering Place Brewing (811 E. Vienna Ave.). From 5 to 9 p.m. you can indulge in food from 11 different trucks and sip beers from Gathering Place, Black Husky Brewing, Company Brewing and Lakefront Brewery.

Component Brewing is setting up shop at its Muskego beer garden at Veterans Memorial Park (W182 S8200 Racine Ave.) from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. There will be food trucks, live music and a new wheat beer made with peaches.

Shorts Brewing makes the trip from Michigan and is handing out samples at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) from 3 to 6 p.m.

Saturday, July 13

The Brewery Running Series comes to Lakefront Brewery (1872 N. Commerce St.) for a 5K at noon. For $30 you can participate in the casual run and enjoy a beer after it’s over.

Discount Liquor Milwaukee (919 N. Barstow St.) offers samples from Shorts Brewing from noon to 3 p.m.

Sunday, July 14

Company Brewing (735 E. Center St.) ups the ante on normal brewery yoga by adding brunch to the mix. Yoga starts at 10 a.m. (but get there a few minutes early with your yoga mat) and is followed by brunch and a beer. The cost for the fun is just $30.
