Beer bike rides, brunches and tastings are all a great way to start 2019.

Tuesday, Jan. 1

Stubby’s Gastrogrub & Beer Bar (2060 N. Humboldt Ave.) provides a few reasons to start the new year there. A prime rib brunch menu from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. includes heavy hitters like a prime rib eggs benny and a prime rib panini. The taps are pouring a few gems like Toppling Goliath Sosus Imperial IPA, Perennial Abraxas Imperial Stout, Goose Island Bourbon County Stout and Indeed Rum King Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout. Wednesday, Jan. 2

The Milwaukee Beer Society hosts New Year, New Beer at Best Place (901 W. Juneau Ave.) from 6 to 9 p.m. Try beers that are new to Milwaukee or just new in general. Cost is $15 ($10 for members).


Friday, Jan. 4

Try brews from Ahnapee from 3 to 6 p.m. at Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.).


Saturday, Jan. 5

If you’re gonna take a winter bike ride, it may as well include stops at breweries and distilleries. The Historic Beer Bike Ride starts at Brew City MKE (275 W. Wisconsin Ave.) and heads to MobCraft, Great Lakes Distillery, Lost Valley Cider, Enlightened Brewing, Twisted Path Distillery before ending at Component Brewing. That’s a lot of stops. The cost is $10 to start and $38 total if you want to include a sample at each stop. Check out the event page for more detailed pricing options.

Homebrewers who want to learn the basics of kegging their creations should head to Northern Brewer (1306 S. 108th St.) from 2 to 3 p.m. The learning is free, but registration is required.

Do your resolutions call for you to get in better shape in 2019? Give your dedication to fitness a fighting chance by starting with a yoga session at Brewfinity Brewing (N58 W39800 Industrial Rd. Oconomowoc) from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. For $10 you get an hour of yoga, followed by a beer.
