The Italian market's first event of 2017 features six breweries and five creameries. Plus, news about the expansion plans at Glorioso's old location.

Italian market Glorioso’s made news this week when GM Michael Glorioso announced, at a neighborhood association meeting, plans to build a hands-on cooking school, demo kitchen and commercial kitchen in its former location (1018 E. Brady St.). That space has been vacant since the shop moved to its current digs (1011 E. Brady St.) in 2011. Demo has always begun at the old, 3,583-square-foot space.

While that work goes on, things are busy at the market, which will host the Inaugural Beer, Cheese & Sausage Event on Jan. 26 (5:30-7:30 p.m.). It features six breweries (Potosi, Black Husky, Lakefront, Milwaukee Brewing Co., Sprecher and Island Orchard Cider) and five creameries – Clock Shadow, Deer Creek, Red Barn, Sartori and BelGioioso. Glorioso’s sausages are also available for sampling.
