Bay View’s Honeypie Cafe Is Moving

Don’t fret, they aren’t going far.

Bay View’s Honeypie (2643 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.) is going to get a new address, very close by. No official moving date is set but as early as this fall, it will call the former Alchemist Theater digs (2569 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.) its home.

Once the dining establishment (whose sister restaurants are Palomino and SmallPie) is in the new space, diners can expect the same menu of sandwiches, burgers, savory and sweet handpies, whole pies, cupcakes and lots more. As for the interior, owner Val Lucks says it will have a “beautiful, retro diner-style counter for seating when we can let people inside,” plus a walk-up pie and coffee pick-up counter and an enclosed patio space in the back.

For now, Honeypie is continuing curbside pickup and delivery out of its current location. On Monday, July 20, the restaurant will launch “Choose Your Own Honeypie.” It’s a private dining experience on the Honeypie patio. Think socially distant party with your peeps. You serve a 2-4-hour blocks of time. They set up the patio and “scoot out of the way for folks to enjoy safely,” says Lucks.

The private restroom will be deep-cleaned between parties. The price range begins at $250-$500 per two-hour block, depending on day/time and number in the party. That includes food and drinks, which can be selected from Honeypie’s menu history. (That’s 10 years of history!). You can also request a meal created specifically for your party by chefs/partners Derek Petersen and Erick Disbrow and beverage director Jordan Garris. Reservations and pre-ordering are required. And up to 15 people are allowed in your party.
