1. North Avenue Grill
CHELSEA MAMEROW, ART DIRECTOR
My go-to is North Avenue Grill. When I am indulging, I go for the Wakey Wakey Eggs and Bakey breakfast wrap. It’s filled with scrambled eggs, bacon, pulled bacon (yes, two types of bacon), cheddar jack, potatoes and then topped with sausage gravy.
2. Ma Fischer’s
ARCHER PARQUETTE, MANAGING EDITOR
I firmly believe that three mugs of black coffee in quick succession can heal the soul. (My doctor believes different, but I don’t buy into his “excessive caffeine intake,” “you’re going to give yourself an ulcer,” “please at least swill some mouthwash, your breath is killing me” medical mumbo-jumbo.) And in Milwaukee, my favorite place to enjoy those three mugs is Ma Fischer’s on the East Side – a simple and straightforward diner, with unpretentious decor, delicious and hearty skillets, welcoming staff, and most importantly, big mugs.
3. Comet Cafe
ABBY YEMM, MEDIA EXECUTIVE
I will forever love Comet Cafe. Tofu scramble, all day! That place always has the right music and a vibe of its own and it makes me happy.

Tell us who you’d pick to be a Betty this year!
4. Cafe at the Plaza
AVA MCNARNEY, EDITORIAL INTERN
I love the Cafe at the Plaza! I had a mimosa there the morning I turned 21, and it hit the spot. The patio is a great place to spend the whole morning.
5. Blue’s Egg
KATIE WILLIAMS, ASSOCIATE PUBLISHER
The Hoppel Poppel is still the best after all these years.
6. Beerline Cafe and Seven Swans Crêperie
SOPHIE YUFA, EDITORIAL DESIGNER
My two favorites are Beerline Cafe and Seven Swans Crêperie! Hard to pick any one thing from these menus, when everything is delicious. Highly recommend!
