New Glarus on Film
BeerPulse.com is always a valued resource. And this week, the site alerted me to this awesome video excerpt from the An American Small Town series about New Glarus Brewing.
One of the Can’t Miss Beer Fests
It’s beer festival season. The Wisconsin Beer Lover’s Fest is a great way to appreciate just how solid the beer selection in Wisconsin is. New Glarus, Central Waters, Karben4, Black Husky and more stellar local gems are all on hand at Bayshore Town Center (5800 N. Bayshore Dr.) on Saturday, June 14. The tasting starts at noon for VIPs and 1 p.m. for general admission tickets. Get tickets here and head to Glendale.
Barley Pop of the Week
After two fruit beer honors in a row, it’s time to turn up the hops. The Green Flash Imperial IPA is just the beer to do the trick. Green Flash knows how to brew IPAs and this is a fine example. A funky hop aroma and initial flavor nicely gives way to some malt flavor. The finish is bitter, but not quite overpowering. The beer is a great choice for hop heads looking for bite.
Quick Taps
The Wisconsin State Journal posted an article about the new Octopi Brewing a contract brewer from 5 Rabbit founder Isaac Showaki.
Props to Milwaukee Brewing Company, which is apparently killing it when it comes to sales.
One good reason to head to the Wisconsin Beer Lover’s Fest is that Black Husky will be unveiling a Howler Imperial Pale Ale made with Equinox hops, a new hop variety introduced in April. The beer is great regardless. Trying it with the new hops should be an adventure.
