Some things to read while finding a better trident.
We are 74 days away from Milwaukee Brewers pitchers and catchers reporting to Maryvale Baseball Park to open spring training, but today and for the next four days, all eyes will be on San Diego for the 2014 Winter Meetings. Adam McCalvy of MLB.com has a preview of the annual event, which frequently features some of the biggest transactions of the offseason.
There are several meetings previews from around the web to share this morning:
- McCalvy has a look at the Brewers’ remaining needs and the strengths the team could deal from in a trade.
- Derek Harvey of Brew Crew Ball also has a look at players the Brewers could ship out, although 41 percent of voters in his poll think the team won’t trade anyone.
- Joel Sherman of the New York Post has a look at the needs of 28 teams heading into the meetings and says the Brewers are “shopping at the margins” for pitching help and a righty platoon candidate at first base (h/t BBTF).
- Paul Casella of Sports on Earth identified bullpen help as the Brewers’ greatest area of need.
