“…is among the best science-fiction films I’ve seen…” Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times
“Isn’t prophetic … just pathetic.” Joe Neumaier, New York Daily News
In this riveting and entertaining thriller, Cage stars as an MIT astrophysics professor who’s confronted with the idea of whether or not events are predetermined after he comes across a prophetic set of numbers written by a young girl 50 years ago that eerily predicts tragic events. Conveniently he’s a widower and a man of science, so he’s already got his assertions; yet, Knowing’s outlandish circumstances are thought-provoking as it delves into philosophical and Biblical ideas. It suffers from standard horror clichés – dark woods, creaky noises, curtains eerily blowing in the wind, a suspenseful score, spooky figures – but is compelling through smart foreshadowing, excellent special effects, and overall intensity.
