The Miller Caves
In an exciting development confirmed late last night, the Pabst has confirmed two shows with John Reilly and Friends at the Miller Caves on Sunday, July 16. Each show will have a 100-person capacity.
The actor, perhaps best known for his roles in Boogie Nights and Chicago, Reilly has appeared of late in this musical outfit known for its twang. We also got a taste of Reilly’s vocal stylings in the 2007 parody bio-pic Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, for which he provided the voice.
The Miller Caves have deep roots in Milwaukee. Literally. They were dug — by hand — 60 feet under the ground when the Best brothers built the Watertown Plank Road Brewery in 1849. After Frederick J. Miller purchased the brewery in 1855, beer was stored in the caves before refrigeration became available in 1906.
The caves have also served as host for Miller’s last dinner the night before he died in 1888, a bomb shelter for Miller employees in the 1940s and a museum, where Liberace cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony. They were last renovated in 2008. These two shows will be the first ever at the famed caves.
The shows will be at 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $35, and will go on sale Friday, May 17.
