By popular demand, the father-son bonding film, WaterWalk, starring veteran character actor Robert Cicchini and newcomer Chase Maser, will show in Milwaukee this week* at the historic Oriental Theatre, located at 2230 North Farwell Avenue on Milwaukee’s East Side, in a one-time engagement this Tuesday, June 26 at 7 p.m.
Directed by Cicchini, from a script by Richard Harris and Roger Rapoport (the latter of whom is also the film‘s producer), WaterWalk is a film adaptation of the book of the same name by Steve Faulkner. The film, like the book, chronicles Faulkner’s (played by Cicchini) attempt with his college-bound son Justin (played by Maser) to become the first single canoe team to retrace the 1,000 mile Marquette/Joliet discovery route of the Mississippi River.
WaterWalk was shot in several Wisconsin locations, including Appleton, Boscobel, Green Bay, Kimberly, Mequon, Milwaukee, Muscoda, Neenah, Oconto, Oshkosh, Portage, Prairie du Chien and Wauwatosa. The film was also shot on location in Lake Michigan and along the Fox, Wisconsin and Mississippi rivers from St. Ignace to St. Louis.
Since opening last month in select Midwest markets, last total 50 and counting, the $125,000 budgeted film has performed beyond expectations and garnered strong regional support from theater owners and appreciative fans who seek to get the film exhibited in more theaters not only here in the Midwest but nationwide.
The film has received the seal of approval from the Dove Foundation which rates and reviews family-friendly entertainment.
Quite a few actors with Milwaukee ties co-star in the film with Cicchini and Maser including Lee Ernst, Angela Iannone, Laura Gray, Deborah Staples, Richard Riehle, Eva Balistrieri and John McGivern. And several of them will be in attendance, along with the film’s writer-producer, Roger Rapoport, at Tuesday night’s local premiere.
Additional Wisconsin screening dates already booked include Spring Green’s Gard Theater (July 15), Green Bay’s Meyer Theater (July 18) and Oshkosh’s Time Community Theater (July 21).
WaterWalk is unrated, but considered appropriate for all ages, with a running time of approximately 115 minutes.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $7.50 for children (12 and under) & seniors (62 and over), and $8 for students with a valid ID.
