Some things to read while finding something else to argue about.
We are 77 days away from pitchers and catchers reporting to Maryvale Baseball Park to open the 2015 season and, barring a shocking turn of events, Jonathan Lucroy will be there to open his sixth MLB season with the Milwaukee Brewers. Lucroy finished fourth in the National League MVP voting this year, tied a franchise record with 53 doubles and is with the Brewers for three more seasons on a very team-friendly deal. Jonah Keri of Grantland cited that contract when listing Lucroy 12th in his annual ranking of the top 50 players in baseball by trade value.
The Brewers still have Lucroy for three more seasons, but it’s reasonable to ask if keeping him in the organization even longer makes sense. Nicholas Zettel of Disciples of Uecker has another look at Lucroy’s value and suggests the team could offer something like seven years and $100 million to keep Luc in Milwaukee through at least 2021.
