Last year, Eric & Magill – the Milwaukee-based pop project comprised of Eric Osterman and Decibully’s Ryan Weber – released “All Those I Know” for free. The album was listed among Music Notes favorite local albums of 2010. Beyond having the album pressed with the help of $2,816 worth of Kickstarter pledges, the year since has been a quiet one for Eric & Magill—until now.
This week, the group released its wholly unique take on songs by five other artists, a covers EP called Kick The Covers Vol. 1.
Osterman and Weber explain the project as “the first in a series of covers EPs comprised of music created by friends who also collaborated on our release All Those I Know. It is our way of paying tribute and saying thanks.”
Bands paid tribute include noted national acts The Snake The Cross The Crown, Shearwater, and Via Tania as well as Milwaukee projects Faux Fir and Noon Duet. The EP clocks in well below the 20-minute mark, but is offered free of charge on the Eric & Magill’s Bandcamp page. While you’re there, do yourself a favor and download All Those I Know too.
