9 Beer Events Brewing This Week in Milwaukee: May 12-16

It’s not the busiest virtual beer week, but there are plenty of happenings worth checking out, including a tasty hazy beer release courtesy of Raised Grain and a worthy charity event at Milwaukee Brewing.

Tuesday, May 12

Sugar Maple (441 E. Lincoln Ave.) has moved its weekly Name that Beer contest online. Pick up a growler of the mystery beer from 4 to 8 p.m. and post one guess as to what beer you think it is for a chance to win a $10 gift card.

MobCraft’s Virtual Book Club is in its third week (out of six), but you can still join in. For $25 you can join in the discussion about Josh Noel’s outstanding book, Barrel Aged Stout and Selling Out, and if you join you get a bottle of Padishah Barrel-Aged Stout and 10% off a MobCraft barrel-aged beer as long as the book club runs.

 Wednesday, May 13

Raise Grain Brewing (1725 Dolphin Dr., Waukesha) is releasing four-packs of Lonesome El Dorado Hazy IPA. Pick some up at the drive-through from noon to 3 p.m. or in the taproom from 4 to 8 p.m. I’m guessing it’s going to be very good.

Place your orders for Beer Dinner for Two, a virtual event by MobCraft Beer and Hidden Kitchen MKE, by Wednesday. Your three-course food and beer pairings for two will be available at the MobCraft taproom (505 S. 5th St.) only on Friday, May 15. Cost is $60.

Your chance to name a beer is happening, courtesy of Sahale Ale Works. Find a clever moniker for a new ale made with maple sap and you can win a four-pack of the brew and a t-shirt. Post your idea on the Sahale Facebook page and they’ll choose a winner by 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Friday, May 15

Everyone needs a regular weekend activity to look forward to. The weekly brewmaster’s toast by Third Space Brewing’s Kevin Wright is just that thing. Grab a beer and tune in at 5:45 p.m. on Facebook Live to start the weekend off right.

The MobCraft and Hidden Kitchen MKE virtual beer dinner is happening. Look at the Wednesday listing for details.

Saturday, May 16

Want to support local bars and restaurants, while also snagging a few beers and even a cookie or two? Head to Milwaukee Brewing (1128 N. 9th St.) from noon to 5 p.m. for the Save Our Spots Charity Drive Thru. Grab some to-go beers from the hosts, cookies courtesy of Aggie’s Bakery and even free hand sanitizer (with purchase and while supplies last). A portion of the sales go to Save Our Spots, a charity created by C.J. Krawczyk to offer financial support for local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Purple Door Ice Cream and MobCraft are teaming up for a virtual beer and ice cream pairing at 7 p.m. on Zoom. The $30 tasting kit for two includes four beers and four ice cream samples. There are also two bonus pairings available, including one involving chocolate ice cream and Grasshopper Milk Stout. Wow.
