Have you got your pie bases covered for the Thanksgiving holiday? Time is of the essence! Here are some bakeries that are ready to take your orders – and they are ready now. Don’t wait. Those cut-off dates will come sooner than you think.
Matilda Bakehouse
The Fox Point-based bakery/cafe is offering four kinds of pie: Ruth’s pumpkin, French silk, pecan and salted caramel apple. Dinner rolls, carrot cake and other items are also available for pre-order. Honeypie’s Pie Inc.
The Bay View king of pies is doing a limited menu (because of the massive quantity of orders they accept). This year’s special flavor is pumpkin spiced latte, a whipped cream cheese and pumpkin filling with classic pie spices and coffee inside a shortbread crust. Other options: pumpkin, apple, bourbon pecan, Door County cherry crumb, Milwaukee mud, key lime, blueberry lemon, banana cream and chocolate hazelnut cream. Pickup dates are Sunday Nov. 23-Saturday Nov. 29. Pickup location is the Honeypie Bakeshop kitchen inside Palomino (2491 S. Superior St.). Note: The last day for online orders is Friday, Nov. 21. Phoned-in orders are accepted through Tuesday, Nov. 25. They also strongly recommend orders come in as early as possible; as time goes on, they run out of flavors and the options become more limited. Poppy Bakery
The new (as in, June 2025) East Side bakery (located in the former Sip N Purr Café) is offering their dulce de leche pumpkin pie, which won third place in the 2025 Honeypie Great Midwestern Pie Championship. Mr. Dye’s Pies
The Mr. Dye’s menu is “Thanksgiving ready all year long,” says founder Johnathan Dye. But certain flavors in particular are expected to be on folks’ radar, including N’awlins’ pecan, brandy old fashioned, key lime and Purple Monster (sweet potato, made with purple yams). Bakehouse 23
The baking wizard in this kitchen (co-owner Sarah Mironczuk) will be making Dutch apple (vegan), pumpkin (available regular or vegan), pecan pie (regular or vegan – and chocolate pecan is an option, too) and chocolate cream. There’s more than traditional crust pies on the menu, for example: pluffernutter pie (peanut butter mousse in a graham cracker shell, with a marshmallow whipped cream topping) and gluten-free cranberry-orange upside-down cake. Blue’s Egg + Bakery
Available pie flavors are pumpkin, pumpkin chiffon, banana cream, French silk, bourbon pecan, Dutch apple, key lime, salted brown butter. La Tarte
This Tosa baker around the corner from Balistreri’s Pizza on 68th St. makes 21 kinds of pie! To start, there’s three kinds of pumpkin, and five different apple varieties. All the fruit pies are crumb-topped (an upcharge for double-crust). Gluten-free pie is an option, too. Two sizes: 6-inch and 8 inch. The cutoff date for orders if Saturday, Nov. 22. For pies, they’re offering both pumpkin and French silk for pre-order. Also available: tiramisu (quarter-sheet pan size) and place card cookies. Pre-order window is Friday, Nov. 7-Friday, Nov. 21.
