Cinco de mayo isn’t all about tacos and tequila – Celebrate Milwaukee’s diverse community at the 5th annual Cinco de Mayo Family Festival, running all day on May 7. With events like car shows, chili pepper eating contests, chihuahua contests and a community resource fair, the festival has lots to enjoy.

If you feel like spending Cinco de Mayo dancing the night away, This is It! might be the place to be. Lola R. Diamond, also known as the 2020 Miss Gay Latina of Kenosha, will host her very own unique drag showcase featuring local queens at the city’s oldest gay bar.

If you’re looking to stay in on Cinco de Mayo, you don’t have to sacrifice the margarita experience. Sprecher Brewery has done the hard work of recipe testing for you, and they recommend strawberry, grape, citrus splash or orange dream. The rest is easy – into your margarita glass goes ice, 1.5oz of tequila, 0.5 oz triple sec and the same amount of lime juice plus 3 oz of the soda of your choice. Give it a stir and enjoy!
