12 Beer Events Brewing in Milwaukee This Week: May 13-18

There are two brewery 10th anniversaries: The Fermentorium celebrates with an entire week of events, Urban Harvest throws a block party.

Wednesday, May 13

The Fermentorium (7481 State Rd. 60, Cedarburg) marks 10 years in brewing with several days of festivities that start on Wednesday and culminate with a big party on Saturday. They’re releasing six different anniversary beers over the weekend beginning Thursday with Terpene Hazy IPA, Strawberry Golden Ale and Smoked Ghost Pepper Stout. On Friday, the releases are a Fruited Hefeweizen and an Imperial Coffee and Vanilla Stout. Saturday’s release is a Belgian Quad made with maple syrup and honey.

Sprecher Brewing’s Traveling Beer Garden makes its first stop of the summer season at Wilson Park (1601 W. Howard Ave.). It will be there until Monday, May 25. Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

Thursday, May 14

Pilot Project Brewing hosts Common Thread, a nationwide tour of community events intended to foster connection and build community. Marguerite Casey Foundation president and CEO Carmen Rojas hosts a roundtable with local dignitaries, plus free food and music from Wave Chapelle, Squirrel Flower and DJ Shawna.

Lakefront Brewery (1872 N. Commerce St.) is releasing Weissconsin Hefeweizen in a big way. At 5 p.m. they’ll tap a free half barrel of the stuff.

Friday, May 15

Try samples from Lakefront Brewery and Raised Grain Brewing from 3 to 5 p.m. at Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.).

Young Blood Beer Co. is handing out samples at Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) from 3 to 5 p.m.

Saturday, May 16

Urban Harvest Brewing (1024 S. Fifth St.) is having a second 10th anniversary celebration in the form of a block party from 1 to 8 p.m. They’ll have music and a food truck to go along with the releases of Kööler Near the Lake Kölsch and He ain’t Heavy Haze My Brother Hazy IPA.

Draft & Vessel (4417 N. Oakland Ave., Shorewood) is one of the locations for Phase Three Brewing Company’s Pixels and Pals release. Phase Three is bringing four Pixel Hazy IPA variants to the Shorewood beer mecca, and you can buy each in cans.

Explore nature with a beverage in your hand at Frothy Forage. The annual event takes place at Riveredge Nature Center (4458 County Hwy. Y, Saukville) from noon to 4 p.m. and includes samples of beer, wine and cider from several local purveyors.

Sunday, May 17

Maifest returns to Lakefront Brewery. The gluten-free festival features food and craft beverages and several cask beers made for the occasion.

Lakefront is taking over a few of the taps at Station No. 06 (6800 W. Becher St., West Allis) during the bar’s meat raffle from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Buying a Lakefront beer gets you a raffle ticket, and a portion of the proceeds benefit Friends of Wisconsin State Parks.

Meat raffles are all the rage this month. Gathering Place Brewing (7208 W. North Ave., Wauwatosa) and its sister brewery Sahale Ale Works (1505 Wisconsin Ave., Grafton), are also both hosting one from 2 to 4 p.m.

Saturday, May 23: Draft & Vessel celebrates five years at its Wauwatosa location (7479 Harwood Ave.) with a party that includes special tappings, live music and food.

Saturday, May 30: The eighth year of Lager & Friends is scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. The beer fest out on Vienna Street in front of Gathering Place Brewing highlights lagers from several standout breweries.

Saturday, May 30: Sheboygan’s 3 Sheeps Brewing celebrates its 14th anniversary with live music, food vendors, a sale of vintage barrel-aged bottles and more.

Saturday, June 13: Sip and Savor Wisconsin (formerly the Wisconsin Beer Lovers Fest) comes to The Bavarian Bierhaus (700 W. Lexington Blvd., Glendale) and the pavilion in its Old Heidelberg Park beer garden. Sample beer, wine, spirits and food from some of Wisconsin’s best artisan makers. Tickets start at $70.

Eagle Park Brewing (S64 W15640 Commerce Center Pkwy., Muskego) is throwing a party to mark its ninth anniversary. Keep an eye on their event page for details.
