A few big beer releases and an outstanding tap takeover at Draft & Vessel highlight the week.

Wednesday, Feb. 5

This week, 1840 Brewing (342 E. Ward St.) releases Pillow Top – Galaxy Double IPA. The beer will be available on draft at 4 p.m. and in bottles on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Stone Brewing takes over the taps at Ray’s Growler Gallery (8930 W. North Ave.) at 5 p.m.

The Milwaukee Beer Society hosts a homebrew night at Best Place (917 W. Juneau Ave.) from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Try the beers that members are brewing.


Thursday, Feb. 6

In my opinion, Epic’s Big Bad Baptist Stouts are decidedly underrated. You can try 10 variants, yes 10, at Draft & Vessel (4417 N. Oakland Ave.) from 5 to 8 p.m.

Barley’s Angels is having its monthly meeting at Indeed Brewing (530 S. 2nd St.) at 6 p.m. The cost is $10 for women craft beer fans to tour the brewery and sample what they’re making.


Friday, Feb. 7

Gathering Place Brewing is handing out samples at Discount Liquor Waukesha (919 N. Barstow St.) from 4 to 7 p.m. For every four-pack purchased you get a chance to win a pair of tickets to Gathering Place’s Lager and Friends fest on March 21.


Saturday, Feb. 8

Eagle Park Brewing (823 E. Hamilton St.) has three beers slated for release in cans at 11 a.m. The list includes Booze for Breakfast Imperial Stout, Mexican Chocolate Stout and Double Vanilla Strawberry Milkshake IPA.

Discount Liquor Milwaukee (5031 W. Oklahoma Ave.) hands out samples from Maplewood Brewery from noon to 3 p.m.


Sunday, Feb. 9

Lakefront Brewery (1872 N. Commerce St.) hosts a chili cook-off from noon to 6 p.m. For $12 you can try what chili chefs have to offer.

Sahale Ale Works (1505 Wisconsin Ave., Grafton) is releasing Quit Playing Games with My Tart, a limited imperial wheat ale made with cherries, cocao, lactose and rose water. The beer will be available in limited quantities on tap and in four-packs.

Stock up on barware and beer schwag at a rummage sale taking place at Pabst Milwaukee Brewery (1037 W. Juneau Ave.) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
